President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Russian President Vladimir Putin gave a start to the construction of the first NPP in Uzbekistan.
The presidents pressed the symbolic button on October 19, within the framework of the first Uzbek-Russian interregional forum, to launch the project of the planned nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan.
The NPP, which is said to be built near the Tudakul water reservoir between Navoi and Bukhara regions, is to be constructed jointly with Russia's “Rosatom”.
Its first unit will be commissioned by 2028.
