Kazakhstan blocks import of under quarantine persimmon from Uzbekistan

Kazakhstan for three days prevented the illegal importation of several lots of products into the republic from a number of countries, including Uzbekistan, the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan reports.

"In the period from Oct. 10 to 12, 2018, state inspectors for plant quarantine of territorial inspectorates of the Ministry of Agriculture stopped 29 attempts to smuggle into the territory of Kazakhstan 165.5 tons of isolated products of high phytosanitary risk from the Russian Federation, the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Uzbekistan"  the Ministry’s report reads.

According to a press release, during the inspection, it was found out that when importing 2.5 tons of persimmon from Uzbekistan, a quarantine object was identified (Comstock worms - Pseudococcus comstocki, Kuwana).

Following the investigations, the violators were brought to administrative responsibility by the inspectors in accordance with the Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Administrative Offenses".

Quarantine products were returned to the territory of exporting countries.
