Uzbekistan and Malaysia are strengthening their collaboration in the agricultural sector across several areas. To further these efforts, a delegation consisting of officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, regional and district leaders from Tashkent and Kashkadarya, and representatives from agricultural clusters are currently on an official visit to Malaysia.
During the visit, agreements were reached to initiate practical cooperation in various fields, including the production of smart agricultural technologies and drones, rice cultivation, fish farming, rubber production, and the export of fruits, vegetables, and silk products.
A key outcome of the visit was the signing of an agreement with Meraque company for the local production of smart agricultural technologies and drones at the Scientific Research Institute of Agricultural Mechanization in Yangiyul district.
Furthermore, under an agreement between the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute and the Center for Knowledge and Innovations in Agriculture under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, seeds of salt-tolerant, drought-resistant, black, long-grain, and aromatic rice varieties developed by Malaysian breeders will be brought to Uzbekistan for trial planting and multiplication. In return, "Devzira" rice seeds produced in Uzbekistan will be sent to Malaysia.
In collaboration with the Fisheries Department of the Malaysian Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and the Uzbekistan Fish Industry Association, new projects focused on intensive fish farming, biofloc technology, and shrimp cultivation will be launched in Uzbekistan using Malaysian technologies.
Cooperation with the Malaysian Agricultural Marketing Agency will support the export of Uzbekistan's fruits, vegetables, and silk products.
Additionally, an agreement with Malaysia’s Jakim organization will facilitate the organization of training courses to help Uzbek farmers and entrepreneurs obtain Halal certification.
