Uzbekistan’s first ambassador to Cuba presents credentials to President Miguel Díaz-Canel

According to the "Dunyo" news agency, during a brief meeting, President Díaz-Canel emphasized Cuba’s commitment to fostering friendly relations with Uzbekistan, founded on mutual respect and shared interests. He expressed the Cuban government’s keen interest in intensifying political dialogue and enhancing multifaceted cooperation with Tashkent.

Highlighting untapped potential, the Cuban leader noted opportunities for expanding bilateral partnerships in trade, economics, cultural and humanitarian exchanges, healthcare, and tourism. He also conveyed his respects and best wishes to the President of Uzbekistan.

During his stay in Havana, Ambassador Lapasov engaged in high-level discussions with representatives of Cuba's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Parliament, and Ministry of Health. He also held meetings with executives from BioCubaFarma, a leading biotechnology and pharmaceutical group. These talks aimed to explore avenues for collaboration in health and scientific research.

Uzbekistan and Cuba established diplomatic ties on March 13, 2006. The appointment of Ulugbek Lapasov marks a significant milestone in their relationship, making him the first Uzbek ambassador to Cuba in nearly two decades.
