During the meeting, Mirziyoyev outlined measures to adapt the energy sector by restructuring it into distinct entities for electricity production, transmission, and distribution. This segmentation aims to attract new investments and foster competition. Transformation plans for four key enterprises — Uzbek National Electric Networks, Regional Electric Networks, Thermal Power Plants, and Uzbekhydroenergo — were highlighted as essential to bolstering the sector's competitiveness and efficiency.
A primary focus of the discussion was cost reduction across energy enterprises through project optimization, waste minimization, and procurement improvement. The government aims to bring in $4 billion in private investments to modernize distribution networks through public-private partnerships. By 2025, private operators will take over network management in Samarkand, Jizzakh, and Syrdarya regions, further promoting efficiency and innovation.
Mirziyoyev stressed the need for a rapid transformation within energy companies and the implementation of a modern management framework as part of creating a competitive energy market. He announced that next year will focus on efficient resource usage and operational enhancement, with a strong emphasis on digitalization and advanced management systems across the energy sector.
