The newly enacted legislation introduces Article 214-1 to the Criminal Code, which imposes penalties for the illegal acquisition of material values or property benefits by individuals involved in sports competitions.
Offenders can face fines ranging from 50 to 100 base calculation units (BCU), disqualification from specific rights for up to three years, or restrictions on freedom from one to three years, as well as imprisonment for the same duration.
Additionally, Article 214-2 explicitly addresses the issue of bribery in sports, holding both participants and organizers accountable. The sanctions for this offense include fines between 100 and 300 BCU, disqualification from certain rights for three to five years, or similar restrictions on freedom and imprisonment.
