To qualify for the Neo Nomad visa, applicants must earn at least $3,000 monthly from sources outside Kazakhstan, provide medical insurance, and submit proof of a clean criminal record.
The visa is valid for one year, with holders expected to live in Kazakhstan and spend within the local economy without competing for local jobs. Officials project an annual economic benefit of 3.6 billion tenge (approximately $7.38 million) if at least 500 visas are issued.
“With more than 35 million digital nomads worldwide, we aim to create all the necessary conditions to attract them to our country. Almaty and Astana are already among the top 150 cities appealing to neo-nomads,” stated Minister of Tourism and Sports Yerbol Myrzabosynov.
This initiative follows a similar program launched by Kyrgyzstan in late 2022, which offers digital nomad status to citizens from six countries working in animation, design, programming, robotics, and IT. By the end of 2023, 1,975 individuals had registered under Kyrgyzstan’s program.
