Uzbekistan plans to boost freight transportation to European Union countries through Bulgaria, according to the Ministry of Transport's press service.

On September 3-4, Tashkent hosted a meeting of the Uzbekistan-Bulgaria Commission on International Road Transport. During the talks, the parties discussed expanding cooperation in freight transportation and creating favorable conditions for transport companies.

The sides focused on transit freight shipments to the EU via the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.

Additionally, the transport agencies of both countries agreed to increase the number of mutually issued permits by 15 times for 2025.

Previously, Uzbekistan reached an agreement with Romania on bilateral and transit freight transportation without the need for permits, effective from April 1. This agreement aims to diversify the country's available transport corridors.
