China and Uzbekistan have launched rail transport via a new route, according to the press service of "Uztemiryulkonteyner."
The first container block train traveled from the Jinhua station in eastern China, passing through Kazakhstan's Altynkol to Nazarbek near Tashkent. The train, consisting of 50 standard 40-foot containers, covered 6,250 km in 12 days.
The train's cargo includes manufacturing equipment and consolidated shipments of various goods. In Nazarbek, the cargo will be transferred onto Uzbekistan Railways fitting platforms for further transport.
The express container trains with the cargo are set to continue to the Urgench station. This is the first shipment along this route, according to the state company.
Earlier in August, the first container train arrived in the capital of Uzbekistan from the Chinese city of Xi'an via Khorgos and Saryagach, covering 4,486 km. Presidents Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev participated in the arrival ceremony via video link.
