In the Fergana region, it was discovered that waste management companies had unjustly charged consumers, according to the Competition Committee.

It was revealed that waste collection and removal services were provided to 871 neighborhoods (3,148,900 residents) in the Fergana region. These services covered 82% of the neighborhoods or 77.4% of the population in the region.

During the investigation, the debts calculated for consumer households for waste removal services in 2023 and the first six months of 2024 were analyzed. The results showed that in 2023, debts exceeding 30 billion UZS were unjustly calculated for 767,068 households (3,141,658 consumers) for unprovided services. In the first half of 2024, debts close to 10 billion UZS were similarly calculated for 784,095 households (3,146,985 consumers).

The Fergana regional office of the Competition Committee found that service providers had violated the requirements of the "Consumer Rights Protection Act" during the provision of these services. As a result, the unjustified debts totaling more than 40 billion UZS were recalculated in favor of the consumers.
