The Academy will also transfer the Scientific Research Institute of Physical Culture and Sports and the Institute for Retraining and Advanced Training of Specialists in Physical Culture and Sports and its branches.
The main objectives of the academy are defined as:
• training of personnel based on the experience of leading higher sports and educational organizations of states with high results in the field of sports;
• organization of the educational process using foreign experience in the process of training, as well as the creation of scientifically based methods;
• organization of comprehensive scientific research, experiments and laboratory tests in the field of sports;
• introduction of modern educational mechanisms for retraining and advanced training of specialists in the field of physical culture and sports;
• training athletes by studying methods of implementation and features of modern theory and practice systems in the field of sports in the country;
• analysis of competition results based on an in-depth scientific approach, based on the results, development of recommendations for increasing achievements in sports.
The educational process at the academy begins with the 2025/2026 academic year in three undergraduate areas: sports activities, para-sports and sports management. In the master's program they will add sports law, sports marketing and sports psychology. The university will be located in the Olympic town being created in the Yashnabad district of Tashkent.
The contingent of students at the academy will be formed on the basis of selection (selection) primarily from among graduates of Olympic and Paralympic colleges, schools and professional educational institutions who have become winners and prize-winners of the World, Asian and Uzbekistan championships over the past year in Olympic and Paralympic sports, based on from their sporting results.
Graduates of Olympic and Paralympic colleges will be admitted to the academy on the basis of selection directly into the second year. Academy students will take direct part in republican competitions.
Academy graduates will receive state diplomas recognized as a document of higher education in Uzbekistan. As an exception, they will be directly issued a qualification certificate to engage in coaching activities for a period of 6 years.
The creation of the State Sports Academy was discussed in May at a meeting with the President of Uzbekistan. It was noted that the Academy will also open a Scientific and Practical Center for Sports Medicine, an Information and Library Center and a Center for the Study of the History of Uzbekistan and Foreign Languages.
