Uzbekistan CEC delegation participates as international observers in parliamentary elections in India

As it was previously reported, the parliamentary elections in India, which began on April 19 and will end on June 1, will be the longest political event in the world.

India is a parliamentary democracy and the most populous country in the world. The current term of the 543-seat lower house of Parliament, the Lok Sabha, ends on June 16. By this time, a new Lok Sabha should be formed and the name of the Prime Minister who will lead the government for the next five years should be announced.

Polling in 28 states and 8 union territories is taking place in a phased manner and counting is expected to end on June 4. About 968 million voters will take part in the elections.

Members of the delegation of the Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan took part in events organized by the Election Commission of India in Delhi. After this, representatives of our country visited several polling stations in the state of Uttar Pradesh, got acquainted with the conditions created for voters to exercise their constitutional rights, and the advanced technologies introduced into the voting process.
