The event was organized in cooperation by the SCO Center for Public Diplomacy in Uzbekistan, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, the Tashkent branch of MGIMO and the SCOLAR Network Youth Platform.
More than 100 young people took part in it, including students from about 10 higher educational institutions, academic lyceums and, for the first time in the history of the SCO models in Uzbekistan, students from secondary schools. The event was also attended by representatives of the Oliy Majlis Senate of Uzbekistan, members of the Ecological Party, Economic Assembly, Volunteer Association, scientists and cultural figures.
Participants in the simulated summit of SCO leaders discussed such topics as “Environmental sustainability: promising areas of cooperation”, “Business diplomacy: prospects for the development of economic diplomacy and improving the investment environment within the SCO”, “Smart tourism and innovative technologies as an important factor in sustainable development: current issues of cooperation within the organization”.
Delegates not only participated in discussions, but also put forward specific initiatives to find solutions to global problems and develop international cooperation.
Following the event, the proposals of all delegations were summarized and the final document was adopted – the Joint Declaration of the XIII Regional Model of the SCO.
The goal of the project is to stimulate the interest of young people in the activities of the organization and shape their view of global problems through the format of simulating summit meetings of the participating countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
