Due to the increase in gas and electricity prices, social assistance will begin to be provided to low-income families and certain categories of citizens from May this year, the agency’s press service reports.
In particular, by May 1, the country will review the size of minimum consumer expenditures (MCE), taking into account rising prices for fuel and energy resources. In this regard, the size of the minimum pension and benefits for about 1 million citizens will be revised. It is noted that they will not be below the new poverty line. Let us remind you that currently the size of the MCE is 621 thousand soums.
In addition, during the heating season (in November of this year), families who receive child benefits and material assistance through the “Unified Register of Social Protection” system will be allocated a one-time compensation in the amount of 270 thousand soums. About 1.5 million needy citizens will receive this compensation.
It is reported that more than 200 thousand families who are not included in the “Unified Register of Social Protection” will also receive one-time compensation, according to the conclusions of the “mahalla seven”, which will conduct door-to-door visits.
If a needy family exceeds the norm for gas consumption (up to 250 cubic meters per month) or electricity (up to 150 kW/h per month), the excess will be compensated by the state. To receive compensation for energy consumption above the norm, families in need will need to submit an application to the “Inson” Social Services Center.
