As per the Uzbekistan Embassy in Cairo, an agreement with the Egyptian government has been reached to supply Uzbekistan with a total of 800,000 units—about 40 tons—of the medications "Daclatasvir" and "Sofosbuvir" against Hepatitis C and "Entecavir" against Hepatitis B by 2025, with a total value of $4.2 million.

Throughout 2023, pharmaceuticals with a combined value of $696,000 were sent to the country in stages.

On February 3, Uzbekistan Airways, for the third time in 2024, delivered a shipment of the antiviral drug Sofosbuvir-400mg from Sharm El-Sheikh to Tashkent. This batch is part of the humanitarian assistance pledged by the Egyptian government and consists of 12 boxes containing a total of 6,720 units of Sofosbuvir-400mg, set to be distributed to recovering patients at the Research Institute of Virology under the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan.

This humanitarian aid is part of the understandings reached during President Mirziyoyev’s official visit to Egypt on February 20-21, 2023. The aid aims to support patients with Hepatitis and provide state-funded treatment options.
