This initiative is part of a presidential decree on the state program for 2024. The decree proposes the implementation of a unified intelligent public transport management system. Specific express bus routes will be established to connect areas such as "Nazarbek" to the Chorsu and Pakhtakor metro stations, and from the "Uchkahramon" area to the Yunusabad farmers' market and Shahriston metro stations.
In addition, Tashkent city plans to undertake the following actions to prevent congestion:
— Organizing one-way traffic on certain streets based on traffic flow analysis.
— Reducing peak-time transport loads by adjusting the schedules of higher education institutions.
— Restricting or regulating the movement of large-capacity and heavy freight vehicles during rush hours.
— Upgrading 255 intersections with coordinated traffic lights to an integrated "smart light" system.
— Establishing paid on-street parking zones on at least ten streets.
— Setting up permanent checkpoints on main access roads into the city for weight and size control.
These comprehensive strategies are part of a broader effort by the city of Tashkent to modernize its transport infrastructure, reduce traffic, and enhance the efficiency of its transit systems, thereby improving the quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
