The Research Institute of Criminology has been created by presidential decree.
This institute is a republican research institution specializing in scientific and expert support for criminological activities, part of the organizational structure of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and has the status of a legal entity.
The institute will:
- conduct in-depth studies of the crime situation in the republic, system analysis, and forecast crime trends;
- provide methodological assistance to the bodies of inquiry and preliminary investigation in identifying the factors of crimes that caused a public outcry, and develop measures to eliminate them;
- prepare highly qualified scientific personnel.
It is noted that the institute will carry out its tasks independently of any government bodies, public associations and officials; it is prohibited to interfere with its activities or influence it to change the information in the research report.
The head of the institute will be appointed by the Cabinet of Ministers.
