Previously, it was reported that on January 10, Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree on stimulating the electrical industry of Uzbekistan and its export opportunities.
According to the document, from February 1, a number of electrical appliances can be imported into the republic only if there are authorized service centers from representatives of the manufacturer or official dealer. The decision applies to the following types of equipment:
• aluminum radiators;
• hot water boilers;
• steam boilers;
• water heaters;
• vacuum cleaners;
• washing machines;
• refrigerators, freezers;
• TVs, monitors;
• gas ovens;
• ovens;
• microwaves;
• irons;
• air conditioners;
• liquid pumps.
The decree also outlines measures to create new production capacities in the field of electrical engineering. The Akhangaran Tech Industrial technology park in the Tashkent region will be transformed into Eltech Industrial and will be allocated an additional 214 hectares of land.
Also, plots in Urgench and Fergana with an area of 4 hectares and 10 hectares, respectively, will be allocated for branches of the technology park. Within three months, it was instructed to attract an international consulting company to manage Eltech Industrial.
The summary parameters of investment projects planned for implementation within the framework of the program for launching new capacities in the electrical sector are indicated. In the coming years, it is planned to launch 294 production facilities with a total cost of $4.22 billion.
By December 1, it was instructed to organize a laboratory to assess the compliance of electrical engineering with technical regulations and international standards. 25 billion soums will be allocated from the state budget for the purchase of equipment for it.
In addition, it is planned to approve uniform technical requirements for transformers, electrical cable products, as well as for solar photovoltaic power plants. They should form the basis for the implementation of the recently approved quality control measures for imported solar cells.
Another expansion of industry support will be an addition to the rules for the distribution of funds from a specialized fund. Now they will be allocated for partial (up to $5,000) compensation of expenses for digitalization of the production process and implementation of ERP, MES, PLM systems.
The exemption of electrical engineering enterprises from customs duties for the import of raw materials, materials and components is extended for another two years – until January 1, 2027. Discounts for the purchase of copper raw materials through Uzbek Exchange are extended for the same period.
On the other hand, the installment plan for enterprises that have implemented high-tech processes when paying for purchased copper is reduced from 90 to 60 working days. The maximum amount that the company can pay in installments is limited to 200 billion soums.
