On January 11, the President of Uzbekistan, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the production cluster of the Defense Industry Agency located in the Tashkent region.
“On the initiative of the head of our state, systematic measures are being taken to reform and comprehensively modernize our Armed Forces, to transform them into a new army that fully meets modern requirements and is capable of guaranteeing the independence and sovereignty of New Uzbekistan, the security and well-being of our people.
In particular, in the following years, a number of training grounds with the necessary infrastructure were established in order to increase the effectiveness and quality of the operational and combat training of the troops, and to create modern conditions for improving the qualifications and skills of military personnel, and the work in this regard is consistently continued.
At the same time, priority is given to the modernization and capacity building of the defense industry, which is moving to a new level today. For this purpose, in January of last year, the President gave an order to transfer the Agency of Defense Industry to the system of the Ministry of Defense and further develop its activities.
The agency has started systematic work on mastering the production of necessary military-technical products, purchasing and delivering modern military equipment to the troops, and modernizing the existing weapons,” the presidential press service said.
During today’s visit, the president was given detailed information about the work being done on increasing the production capacity, strengthening the material and technical base of the Defense Industry Agency, and about the future plans.
In accordance with the order of the head of state, in a short period of time, large-scale construction works were carried out on the basis of several technical units of the Ministry of Defense, existing facilities were perfectly repaired and reconstructed. The equipment repair plant of the Ministry of Defense and the Central vehicle equipment storage base were moved to the cluster area.
Enterprises located in the territory of the new cluster were mutually integrated and their single repair shops were established. Weapons and military equipment, radar devices, optical and electronic-optical devices, firearms and artillery are being modernized in these enterprises, and metals are processed with high precision.
The head of state got acquainted with the activities of these facilities, noted the need to widely involve advanced technologies in the industry, create new jobs, and gave instructions on further improvement of the activities of enterprises.
Solar panels have been installed in the cluster area in accordance with the tasks set for the wide introduction of “green” technologies to industrial sectors, including the defense industry, and in order to save electricity. It serves to provide a large part of the electricity needs of production processes at the expense of alternative sources.
Also, samples of military equipment and weapons repaired and modernized by the production facilities of the new cluster of the Defense Industry Agency were shown to the head of our state.
During the visit, the Supreme Commander launched the activity of the enterprise for the production of new types of military products. He emphasized the need to ensure the high quality of products, improve the qualifications of engineers and specialists.
In the end, the president gave specific instructions to the officials to further expand the production capabilities of the defense industry enterprises.
