The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in the meeting of the leaders of the Central Asian countries with the Federal President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier on September 29 as part of his practical visit to Germany.
President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, national leader of the Turkmen people, chairman of the People’s Council of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow also took part in the event.
The issues of strengthening constructive political dialogue, expansion of trade-economic, transport-communication and cultural-humanitarian cooperation were discussed at the meeting.
Opinions were exchanged on the current aspects of ensuring regional security and sustainable development, including within the framework of EU programs.
In his speech, the head of state specifically focused on the prospects of cooperation in the “Central Asia – Germany” format. Particular attention was paid to the priority directions of practical cooperation, first of all, high technologies and innovative development, transport communications, “green” energy, professional education, active cultural and academic exchanges.
It was noted with great satisfaction that leading German companies and banks are expanding their activities in Uzbekistan. It was noted that the interest in the German language is growing among our youth – today nearly 300,000 schoolchildren and students are learning it in our country.
During the conversation, the Federal President of Germany congratulated the leader of Uzbekistan on the successful holding of a unique cultural-historical exhibition at the world-famous James Simon Gallery in Berlin. In a few months, 200,000 Berliners and guests of the German capital visited the exhibition.
