KSPI vice-rector who allowed installation of a hidden camera in female dormitory fined

Spokesman of the Supreme Court, Aziz Obidov, provided official information about the case at the Kokand State Pedagogical Institute. According to him, the first vice-rector of the institute and employees of the institutional educational technology center were fined.

Reportedly, according to the decision of the Kokand city court on criminal proceedings on May 5, the first vice-rector of the Kokand State Pedagogical Institute for youth issues and spiritual and educational affairs O.B. was found to have committed an administrative offense specified in Article 46-1 of the Civil Code (violation of privacy). A fine of 4.5 million soums was imposed on him.

Also, employees of the educational technology center of the institute A.M., B.O. and head of department R.M. were found to have committed an administrative offense specified in Article 46-1 of the Criminal Code. Each of them was fined 10 BCAs (3 million soums).

At the beginning of April 2023, it was discovered that a hidden camera was installed in the dormitory of female students of Kokand State Pedagogical Institute. The girls complained about this to the vice-rector and the rector and said that they would be in trouble.

After the situation caused intense discussion among social network users, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation and KSPI announced their official response. In particular, KSPI stated in its statement that on the basis of the rectoral order, a special room is being organized to work with psychologically problematic students, and in this regard, a camera has been installed.
