The nationwide movement “Yuksalish” analyzed the Internet media in Uzbekistan and identified the most popular publications that influence the majority of the audience and the formation of public opinion.
It is reported that Kun.uz is the leader among online publications. According to SimilarWeb, 7.4 million people visited the site last month. And although this is half as much as in 2020, according to this indicator, Kun.uz is ahead of all news sites in Uzbekistan.
Kun.uz leads in terms of the number of subscribers in the most popular messenger Telegram (more than 1.17 million) and social networks. According to the authors of the study, the audience of the site’s pages on Facebook (567 thousand) and Instagram (4.7 million) and the YouTube channel (1.7 million) increased by at least 1.5 times.
Gazeta.uz and Podrobno.uz are the most popular local Internet media in the Russian-speaking segment. According to SimilarWeb, 4.7 million people visit the Gazeta.uz website every month (in 2020, it was 3.2 million), and 1.5 million people use the Podrono.uz website (in 2020, it was 1.7 million).

According to the “Yuksalish” analysis, the media space of Uzbekistan is changing, audio materials (podcasts) and video formats (short reports, stories, long interviews, documentaries) are becoming more popular.
“Users don’t want to read long texts. In order for them to open and read the link indicated in the text, the authors have to make an effort - to work on the title, appearance. Another “live” format has gained wide popularity, in which the content of important events and events is presented briefly and concisely in two or three sentences or as a live broadcast on social networks.
Technologies are changing. Cellular communication, the Internet, new gadgets, devices are rapidly developing, allowing people to receive information immediately and in a way convenient for them. Formats and tools are updated. The media must adapt to new realities in order to successfully “go with the flow”, the document says.
