Hospitalization of children who took “Dok-1 MAKS” medicine continues

On December 23, another child whose condition worsened after drinking “Dok-1 MAKS” drug was admitted to the Samarkand regional children’s hospital, he is currently in intensive care. On December 20, the Emergency Medical Care Center also issued a letter to Health Ministry regarding this medicine. The Kun.uz correspondent visited the children’s hospital in Samarkand and spoke with the doctor and the patient’s mother.

Samarkand Regional Children’s Multidisciplinary Medical Center reported that 15 children may have died due to the “Dok-1 MAKS” drug in the last 2 months.

The letter issued by the center to the regional health department on December 15 in this context caused serious discussions in social networks.

The chief physician of the center, M. Azizov, said that most people who used the “Dok-1 MAKS” drug complained about its side effects. According to the head doctor, children who consumed this medicine had signs of kidney damage and failure.

The Ministry of Health has announced that studies have begun in this regard, and the Pharmaceutical Agency has announced that the sale of the drug in Uzbekistan has been suspended since December 22.

The Kun.uz correspondent visited the multidisciplinary children’s medical center of Samarkand region and studied the situation.

Fazliddin Fayzullayev, the deputy chief physician of the center, explained the situation in an interview with us.

“Usually in the autumn-winter season, young children often have respiratory problems, colds, and an increase in body temperature. In recent months, the number of children with kidney failure has increased in our center. When we talked to their parents, most of them reported that they used the “Dok-1 MAKS” drug for the purpose of lowering body temperature and treatment. In 17 children, the disease was extremely severe. It was not possible to save 15 people. We have analyzed similar cases and notified the health department of Samarkand region,” Fazliddin Fayzullayev said.

It is known that on December 23, a child from Shakhrisabz was admitted to this center. His mother, Dilnoza Boykobilova, said that on December 14, her child returned from kindergarten with a fever. After that, she bought “Dok-1 MAKS” syrup based on the pharmacist’s recommendation. She gave this medicine to her child three times for four days. When there was no expected result, she took another syrup to drink in accordance with the doctor’s recommendation. Weakness, nausea, loss of appetite, sleepiness were observed in the child. Two days ago, he could not urinate. After that, he was brought to the Samarkand Regional Children’s Multidisciplinary Medical Center for treatment. The child is currently in the intensive care unit of the center.

Davronbek Jumaniyozov, the head of the regional health department, said that the situation is currently being investigated, and the public will be notified when the final conclusion is reached.

It is known that on December 20, 2022, the Republican Emergency Medical Center also issued a letter to the Ministry of Health regarding the side effects of “Dok-1 MAKS”. In this letter, it was determined that 12 of the 14 children brought to the center on December 19 received “Dok-1 MAKS”.
