The second place was secured by the team of Turkmenistan with 3 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze medals, and the third place - by the team of Kyrgyzstan with 3 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze medals.
Samarkand became the city for the first time to host the Central Asian Open Championship in athletics. More than 300 athletes from 11 countries participated in the international competition.
A total of 56 sets of prizes were won in 41 disciplines of athletics within the framework of international competitions. Participation in them gave each athlete the opportunity to improve his personal results and change his place in the World Athletic ranking system.
Sharifa Davronova from Samarkand won the gold medal in the triple jump with a result of 13.81 meters. It should be noted that today Sharifa is the world leader in two age groups - U18 and U20.
Uzbekistan also retained the lead in men’s triple jump - Islam Sibagatullin took the first place with a result of 15.65 meters.
Dilshoda Usmanova set a new record for Uzbekistan in the 3,000 m steeplechase in the U18 and U20 age categories when she ran the distance in 10:40.43, bettering her previous record by 0.06 seconds.
Barno Sayfullayeva took the first place in the women’s high jump competition. At the Open Championships, she jumped 1.83m and set her personal record, and today she is considered a leader in her under-18 category in Asia.
Amir Nagayev achieved the result of 2.13 m in the men’s high jump and took the first place, meeting the standards of the master of sports.
Holding of the IV Central Asian Open Athletics Championship was a good preparation for the V Asian Athletics Championship among boys and girls under 18 years of age, which will be held in Tashkent in the spring of 2023.
