Today, May 26, an international forum on poverty reduction began its work in Bukhara. According to officials, the conference is attended by more than 250 local and foreign economists, representatives of partner state and international financial institutions.
At the opening ceremony, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s address to the forum participants was read out, Kun.uz correspondent reported.
At the opening ceremony, Deputy PM – Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Jamshid Kuchkarov listed the measures to be taken in Uzbekistan to reduce poverty by 2 times by 2026:
• providing the necessary conditions for the development of the private sector, including small and medium-sized businesses, thereby creating sustainable jobs;
• development of human capital and increase of labor productivity;
• increase the amount of public resources allocated to social projects by liberalizing energy prices and reducing inefficient subsidies; in this process, focus on the protection of low-income families;
• transformation of state-owned enterprises, acceleration of privatization, improvement of competition and business environment in this process;
• increase of productivity in agriculture, first of all deepening of land reforms;
• accelerating the transition to a green and digital economy.
The forum will continue tomorrow (May 27) as well.
