A solar photovoltaic plant with a capacity of 100 MW was launched in the Nurabad district of Samarkand region, Spot reported citing the press service of the Energy Ministry.
The power plant will generate 260 million kWh of electricity per year and provide electricity to more than 80,000 homes.
In addition, the launch of the station will save 78 million cubic meters of natural gas per year and prevent the release of 100,000 tons of harmful emissions into the atmosphere. This amount of saved gas will provide natural gas to all households in the country within 10 days.
The project investor was the French company Total Eren, which invested $100 million.
The ministry also noted that by the end of 2023, in the Kattakurgan district of Samarkand region, the Emirati Masdar will launch another solar photovoltaic station with a capacity of 220 MW.
