Uzbek saber fencer Zukhriddin Kadirov won a gold medal at the World Championship among juniors and cadets. He became the first fencer in the history of Uzbekistan to win the title of world champion, the NOC press service reports.

In the junior category, Zukhriddin Kadirov, who competed in saber, defeated the representatives of Canada, Egypt, Hungary and the USA.

In the final, the Uzbek athlete outscored German athlete Colin Hathcock with a score of 15:13.

The leader of the national team Zaynab Dayibekova won a bronze medal in saber. In the semifinals, she lost to US representative Magda Skarbonkiewicz.

Other saber fencers Samira Shokirova and Muso Aytmurodov reached the quarterfinals of the competition.
