Russian Embassy comments on detention of a travel blogger in Uzbekistan

As the press service of the Russian Embassy in Uzbekistan reported, on February 2, when flying from Bukhara airport to Novosibirsk, a citizen of the Russian Federation Maxim Lymar was detained. Allegedly, an unmanned aerial device was found among his belongings.

In accordance with the current legislation, the illegal importation, sale, purchase, possession or use of unmanned aerial vehicles is punishable by imprisonment of up to 3 years.

“At the moment, the man has been placed under house arrest until the completion of the procedure for clarifying the weight and size characteristics of the drone he is taking out. The Embassy is in constant contact with him and the law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Uzbekistan to resolve the situation as soon as possible and return the compatriot to his homeland,” the report reads.

Earlier travel blogger Maxim Lymar said that he could not fly home to Novosibirsk from Uzbekistan because of a quadrocopter.
