On November 5, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan Said Rustamov met with Lord Gerry Grimstone, the Minister for Investment of the United Kingdom.

During the talks, Lord Gerry Grimstone announced that Uzbekistan has been included in the UK’s Generalized Scheme of Preferences – Enhanced Framework.

“Such a decision was made due to the positive changes taking place in Uzbekistan. The United Kingdom welcomes the steps being taken in the country,” the Dunyo news agency said

It is noted that Uzbekistan became the first country to be included in the list after the Brexit.

Granting Uzbekistan such a status will facilitate the entry of a wide range of Uzbek products into the British market and increase their competitiveness.

The sides also discussed other issues on the agenda, including the prospects for cooperation in innovation, investment and finance.

The parties exchanged views on joint preparations for the annual meeting of the Uzbek-British Trade and Industry Council (UBTIC) and its holding in 2022 in Tashkent.
