President Mirziyoyev announces his readiness to continue providing necessary humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people

Talks between Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow continued in an expanded format with the participation of official delegations of the two countries.

According to the presidential press service, during the talks, the parties emphasized that thanks to joint efforts, the relations of the fraternal countries have reached a qualitatively new level of strategic partnership.

The Presidents noted with satisfaction the dynamics of the growth of mutual trade in recent years and agreed to use all available opportunities to further increase the volume of bilateral trade.

“One of these areas is building up and diversifying the range of mutual supplies of products in demand with the creation of trading houses and access to the markets of third countries. The development of industrial cooperation in various industries, including the assembly of cars, the production of chemical goods, electrical products and household appliances, the production of building materials, the deep processing of cotton fiber and fruit and vegetable products, the creation of a logistics infrastructure are also identified as promising areas of bilateral cooperation,” the statement reads.

The parties agreed to intensify interaction in the field of transport and the development of transit corridors. The importance of joint promotion of the Ashgabat agreement and expansion of the use of the unique opportunities of the seaport of Turkmenbashi was noted.

Joint coordinated efforts in this direction will make it possible to increase the volume of cargo transportation and create favorable conditions for unlocking the transit potential.

The importance of the fullest use of the potential of the regions of the two countries was emphasized. An agreement was reached to launch a new cooperation mechanism – regional forums.

They also discussed issues of cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, which is an important factor in strengthening friendly relations and increasing mutual understanding between the two peoples. 

The President of Uzbekistan stressed that today over 200 thousand citizens of Turkmen nationality live in our country. They live in peace and harmony, as a united friendly family with representatives of all other nations and nationalities that make up the multinational people of Uzbekistan.

“We will continue to create for them all conditions for the development of their native language, culture, traditions and customs. I am sure that the Tashkent park in Ashgabat, created at the initiative of the respected Gurbanguly Myalikgulyevich, will become another new symbol of friendship between our peoples,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

During the talks, it was noted that peace and stability in Afghanistan are the key to sustainable development of the entire Central Asian region.

“We are ready to continue to provide the necessary humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people, to actively cooperate with the Turkmen partners in the implementation of important socio-economic and infrastructure projects in this country,” the President of Uzbekistan said.

The presidents spoke in favor of continuing a close dialogue and joint promotion of initiatives in the international arena, including within the framework of the United Nations, the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the Economic Cooperation Organization, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking States and other international structures.

“The results of today’s meeting will allow us to fill our strategic partnership with new, even more weighty practical content, to strengthen trust and mutual understanding,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

In conclusion, the presidents instructed the co-chairs of the intergovernmental commission on bilateral cooperation to prepare a “roadmap” with specific mechanisms for the implementation of the agreements reached.
