As the press service of the head of state reported, an average of 750,000 surgical operations are performed annually in the country. As a result of the introduction of advanced achievements of world medicine and the creation of the necessary conditions, the number of types of operations carried out in republican centers increased to 350, in regional centers – up to 130, in regional hospitals – up to 60. Modern departments of endovascular surgery have been organized in 32 hospitals.

The Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Surgery named after Academician V. Vakhidov is the basic institution in this direction, it has 14 branches in the regions.

The presentation provided information on the scientific and medical potential of the center, the results of examinations in the regions.

The state program, adopted in the year of supporting youth and strengthening the health of the population, provided for the creation of 35 interdistrict centers for combined injuries and acute vascular diseases on the basis of regional and city medical associations. To this end, on July 26 this year, the President adopted a resolution “On measures to further improve the quality of medical care provided to the population”.

“Today, step-by-step work is underway to organize these centers. Each of them will have 50 beds. Modern centers will allow high-tech operations to be carried out in the districts themselves. At the presentation, the work carried out was considered on the example of the hospital of the Akaltin district, Syrdarya region, which serves the residents of the Akaltin, Sardoba and Mirzaabad districts. In accordance with a presidential decree, $1 million worth of equipment was recently installed in the center. At present, telemedicine sessions are being organized, the qualifications of doctors are being improved,” the message reads.

The head of state noted that the number of types of operations carried out in inter-district centers can be increased to 79, and in the regional – up to 168. He instructed the responsible executives to create the necessary conditions for this.

“One of the most demanded areas today is organ transplantation. In recent years, special attention has been paid to this area, a legal and organizational base is being created. In particular, a new building for the departments of cardiac surgery, transplantology and neurovascular surgery is being built in the republican scientific center for emergency medical care. There are 500 patients in the country in need of liver transplantation, and 1,500 people in need of kidney transplantation. Insufficient equipment of surgical departments, lack of qualified specialists, lack of laboratories for immunogenetic studies negatively affect the development of the sphere,” the press service said.

In this regard, it is planned to orient the Republican Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Surgery on transplantation with the creation of an immunogenetic laboratory and a simulation center in it, as well as to organize kidney transplantation operations in Namangan, Samarkand and Khorezm regions.

The President emphasized the need to train specialists in the field of diagnostics, surgery and treatment based on advanced technologies, to organize advanced training in leading medical institutions abroad.

The Ministry of Finance was instructed to allocate the necessary funds for these purposes, to introduce a system of differentiated remuneration for transplant surgeons.
