Dushanbe will host this week a joint meeting of the heads of the SCO and CSTO states. The sides will discuss the situation in Afghanistan. Presidential spokesman Sherzod Asadov made this announcement at a regular media briefing.
The event is scheduled for September 16-17.
“On September 16-17, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev will take part in the next meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Heads of State in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. Last year, the SCO summit was held online due to the pandemic, but this year the heads of state will meet in person,” Asadov said.
On the first day of the summit, on September 16, Mirziyoyev will hold bilateral talks with his Tajik counterpart Emomali Rahmon, the President of Russia Vladimir Putin and the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan. On September 17, meetings will be held with the President of Iran Ebrahim Raisi.
At the joint meeting of the SCO and CSTO heads of state, the situation in Afghanistan will be considered.
Following the events on September 17, the SCO chairmanship will pass from Tajikistan to Uzbekistan.
