Homeland Security Advisor to US President plans to visit Uzbekistan

According to Dunyo agency, the American delegation will be represented by the Homeland Security Advisor to US President, Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall. During the visit, the delegation will hold bilateral meetings with a representatives of the Senate, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and the heads of foreign affairs agencies of other countries participating in the conference.

The official delegation also includes US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad, who will moderate the breakout session on regional security.

Diplomats and experts from around the world will discuss the prospects for regional cooperation in addressing cross-border security problems, a consolidated approach to establishing peace and stability in Afghanistan, issues of cooperation between the states of Central and South Asia in the field of digital technology and cybersecurity, and the fight against the pandemic.

The chief operating officer of the US International Financial Corporation for Development (DFC) David Marchick is expected to participate at the “Trade and transport interconnectedness for sustainable growth” breakout session of the conference.

The main subject of the discussions will be the possibilities of developing transport and communication connectivity in Central and South Asia, including projects to expand existing infrastructure and build new transport corridors connecting the railway systems of the regions.
