At the sixteenth plenary session of the Senate of Oliy Majlis, the Law “On Amendments to the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the State Budget of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2021” was considered and adopted, the Senate press service reports.
Reportedly, the state budget expenditures will be increased by 13.1 trillion soums this year as the decisions made in the past period and the implementation of priority tasks in the approved programs require additional funding.
According to the presidential decree No. 6155 of February 3, 2021, it is planned to allocate funds to the following spheres:
- 410 billion soums – for improvement of land, water and road infrastructure around tourist facilities;
- 350 billion soums – for providing free economic zones and small industrial zones with necessary infrastructure;
- 124.2 billion soums – for early detection and treatment of endocrine diseases and strengthening the material-technical base of institutions;
- 80 billion soums – for the “El-Yurt Umidi” Foundation in order to increase the number of young people sent to study at prestigious foreign universities by 5 times (from 82 to 350);
- 64.4 billion soums – for increasing the enrollment rates in higher education institutions under state grants by 25%, for doubling the number of grants for girls from low-income families to 2,000 from the 2021/2022 academic year.
Earlier, it was reported that the state budget expenditures for 2021 will increase by 12.6 trillion soums.
