The opening of the “Rishtan” customs checkpoint was attended by officials led by the khokim of Fergana region Khayrullo Bozorov and the governor of Batken region Omurbek Suvonaliyev.
The Rishtan-Sokh road was reopened in August 2019 but closed again two days later. PM Abdulla Aripov said back then that this was a request of the Eurasian Economic Union.
Due to the closure of the 19-kilometer road, the people of Sokh had to cross an 80-kilometer detour to get to Rishtan.
It should be recalled that President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov arrived in Tashkent on an official visit on March 11-12. After the talks, the parties agreed to resolve all border issues within 3 months.
