As the MFA press service reports, the minister conveyed a message from President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan.

“During the talks, key aspects of bilateral relations, promising directions for further development of cooperation in the political, trade-economic, investment, transport and communication, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres were discussed,” the statement reads.

Special attention was paid to regional issues, primarily ensuring peace and stability in Afghanistan. In this context, an exchange of views took place on cooperation in the implementation of infrastructure projects to help restore the Afghan economy, the most important of which is the Mazar-i-Sharif – Kabul – Peshawar railway line.

“This will create access to the seaports of Karachi and Gwadar and help increase the volume of mutual trade between Uzbekistan and Pakistan, as well as Central and South Asia,” the press service said.

Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed at the meeting.
