Gulrukh Niyazmetova, Chief State Labor Law Inspector of the State Labor Inspectorate, said at the AIMC briefing on December 28.
“This year, the State Labor Inspectorate (SLI) has conducted a study of more than 3,048 cases of forced labor on farms and in clusters. During the study, more than 96,000 harvesters and workers were interviewed and compliance of labor conditions with legal requirements was analyzed.
As a result, 47 cases of forced labor were identified, 6 of them were forwarded to the courts.
During the cotton harvest, the SLI imposed administrative fines totaling 745 million 712 thousand soums on 174 officials for violating labor legislation.
A total of 790 complaints about violations of labor rights during the cotton harvest were received through the SLI’s website and Telegram network, 461 of which were registered through our call center, 15 – through the website, 113 – through social networks and 201 – in a written application form,” the inspector said.
