Uzbekistan is planning to purchase one million doses of Sputnik V vaccines for labor migrants going for work to the Russian Federation, Vladimir Tyurdenev, Russia’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan, said.

“An agreement has been signed on the supply of one million doses of vaccines to vaccinate migrant workers heading to Russia from Uzbekistan,” Tyurdenev said at a press conference.

The Ambassador stated that next year it is also expected to conclude a contract for the sale of the second Russian vaccine against COVID-19 “EpiVacCorona”.

The diplomat recalled that Russia was the first to supply Uzbekistan with test kits for the diagnosis of coronavirus free of charge, and Russian doctors and Rospotrebnadzor specialists selflessly worked in the “red zones”, side by side with their Uzbek colleagues, saving lives in hospitals and clinics in the Republic.

It should be noted that Tashkent also provided several consignments of humanitarian cargo with personal protective equipment to Moscow during the pandemic.
