Uzbekistan was represented by Abdulaziz Kamilov, Kazakhstan – Mukhtar Tleuberdi, the Kyrgyz Republic – Ruslan Kazakbayev, the Russian Federation – Sergey Lavrov, the Republic of Tajikistan – Sirojiddin Mukhriddin and Turkmenistan – Rashid Meredov.
During the talks, topical issues of further strengthening the interaction between the Central Asian countries and Russia in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic, transport-communications, energy, migration, cultural-humanitarian spheres, as well as in the field of security, environmental protection, ensuring sanitary and epidemiological well-being were discussed.
Following the results of the event, the statement of the ministers of foreign affairs on strategic directions of cooperation was adopted.
“Our national interests are in line with the further active development of interstate relations in order to strengthen security and stability in Central Asia, turn it into a zone of peace, prosperity, interethnic and interfaith harmony, long-term and promising cooperation, energy and transport-transit interaction of continental importance,” the statement reads.
The parties agreed to strengthen cooperation on the principles of equality and mutual benefit, “taking into account the ongoing processes on the vast Eurasian continent, trends towards deepening economic interaction, as well as expanding interregional cooperation.”
