The draft presidential decree “On measures to sharply reduce the shadow economy” has been announced.
In accordance with the document, Uzbekistan may reduce the duty-free import rate for personal goods shipped in international parcel mail services and delivered by express carriers to $200. Currently, the limit is $1,000.
Also, if the document is approved, the gross weight of parcels will be limited at 10 kg.
The State Customs Committee together with the Ministry of Finance within a month submits to the Cabinet of Ministers proposals to reduce the rate of customs duties levied by individuals when the import of the products brought by them exceeds the set maximum amount.
From February 1, 2021, public procurement of meat and meat products, finished textile products and car parts by budget organizations will be carried out only with the payment of value-added tax (VAT).
The Ministry of Finance and the State Tax Committee, based on the monitoring of public procurement, make proposals to the Cabinet of Ministers to further expand the list of goods and services that can be purchased only with the payment of VAT.
