As the press service of the Samarkand regional prosecutor’s office reported, a criminal case was initiated against the man under Article 122 (evasion of the maintenance of minors or disabled persons) of the Criminal Code.
“The Kushrabat district court on criminal proceedings examined his case. As the man was hiding, on May 13 of the current year he was put on the wanted list,” the press service of the prosecuting body said.
On July 2, as a result of operational-search measures, the man was detained by police officers and placed in the temporary detention center of the Kushrabat district DIA.
“On July 4, the man became ill. At about 10:00, he told the prison officer that he seemed to see various things (a snake, a scorpion, etc.). The police officers offered him help and called a psychiatrist-narcologist,” the statement reads.
Unfortunately, on July 4 at 21:00, the man died in the temporary detention center.
During the pre-investigation check, prosecutors studied all the recordings of surveillance cameras. In the video, one can see how the man was in a state of great emotional excitement several times. In addition, experts did not record signs of torture or physical abuse in his body.
Currently, the verification process has involved employees of the regional khokimiyat, the regional health department, the DIA, as well as representatives from the department for mahalla and family affairs. An appropriate internal audit has also been assigned.
The case is under the control of the Samarkand regional prosecutor’s office.
It should be recalled that on January 23, in the Chirakchi district of the Kashkadarya region, several police officers beat a 32-year-old man to death. A criminal case was instituted against the employees under Article 206 (abuse of official power) of the Criminal Code.
In addition, on June 11 in Andijan, a young man died after torture in the police department. Five employees were dismissed, 19 were punished. On this fact, the Andijan city prosecutor’s office opened a criminal case under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code.
