Uzbekistan, Czech Republic discuss strengthening cooperation in trade-economic and investment spheres

On January 15, 2020, within the framework of his visit to India, Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Tomáš Petříček.

According to the MFA press service, the ministers discussed the current state of bilateral relations and prospects for Uzbekistan-Czech Republic cooperation in the “Uzbekistan-EU”, “Visegrád Group-Central Asia” formats. The parties also exchanged views on pressing issues of international and regional politics.

Special attention at the meeting was paid to practical aspects of preparing for the planned summit at the highest level.

The sides exchanged views on priority areas of cooperation in trade-economic and investment spheres. It was emphasized that the intensification of contacts in this area will expand the range of mutual deliveries and increase the volume of trade, create new joint ventures.

Rich experience, traditions and significant potential of both countries in the tourism industry, as noted, open up new opportunities for expanding cooperation in this area. In this context, the importance of introducing a 30-day visa-free regime for entry into Uzbekistan for Czech citizens from February 1, 2019 was noted.

Effective mechanisms for further expanding partnership within international organizations were also considered
