China tops the list of Uzbekistan’s major trading partners

According to the State Statistics Committee, foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan increased by 37.2%, up to $31.64 billion, in January-September of the current year. In particular, export grew by 1.4 times ($13.67 billion) and import by 31.5% ($17.97 billion). The negative balance of foreign trade for this period amounted to $4.29 billion ($4.27 billion in 2018).

During the reporting period, China topped the list of major import partner countries of the republic with a share of 20.4% in the total volume of imports, Russia – 16.2%. Uzbekistan’s imports from China in January-September grew by almost 1.5 times, up to $3.66 billion, from Russia - up to $2.9 billion (+10%). South Korea concludes the list of TOP-3 largest importers - $2 billion (an increase of 1.64 times).

Reportedly, China's leadership in the import is associated with an increase in the supply of machinery and technological equipment - up to $2.408 billion (1.58 times), chemical products - $548.2 million (+19.8%) and consumer goods - $486 million (1.3 times). Deliveries from the Russian Federation for the first two groups of goods amounted to $666.6 million (an increase of 1.38 times) and $312.6 million (+20.1%).

In the export structure of Uzbekistan, the Chinese market also occupies a leading position - $2.246 billion (+14.6%), the second place - the Russian Federation ($1.795 billion, +16.8%), the third place - Kazakhstan ($1.157 billion, +10.7%). At the same time, the Russian market ranks first in the supply of textile products from Uzbekistan - $443 million (+8.6%, share - 37.7%), the State Statistics Committee explained.
