In Uzbekistan, shuttle trade continues to decline, Spot writes with reference to the Central Bank report.
In the first six months, the volume of such trade amounted to $195 million – $97.7 million per quarter. For comparison, it was three times higher in the first six months of last year– $607.6 million ($250 and $360 million per quarter).
Shuttle imports decreased from $519 million to $141.2 million, exports – from $87.9 million to $54.3 million. At the same time, official trade increased significantly – if in the first six months of 2018 it was $13.5 billion, then this year it has already become $17.3 billion.
In 2018, shuttle traders imported $842.9 million worth of goods into the country and exported for $213.2 million. But even then, by the end of the year, volumes began to decline, which coincided with a tightening of duty-free norms for import of goods.
Earlier, the founder of korzinka.uz Zafar Khashimov explained that the growing figures for official imports are a positive phenomenon, as they show that imports, after liberalization of foreign exchange regulation and a reduction in duties, began to emerge from the shadows.
