In January-July, Uzbekistan imported passenger cars for $205.7 million, follows from the data of the State Statistics Committee.
The pace compared to last year is gradually recovering. For example, at the beginning of the year, the volume of foreign-made car imports was almost 4 times higher than last year, in early spring – 2.2 times, at the beginning of summer it declined to 67%, and now it has grown slightly up to 72%.
The general growth in the import of foreign-made cars can be attributed to the fact that in January the import of expensive foreign cars was facilitated through some benefits – if a car costs $40,000 or more and no more than two years have passed since its release, then a zero duty rate is applied to it.
In addition, zero rates for both customs duty and excise tax have been set for the import of electric vehicles.
