Deputies of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis Rasul Kusherbayev, Abdurashid Abdukodirov and Akmal Umirzakov expressed their views on the activities of some officials and the problems of demolition.

“In Uzbekistan, some officials are ready to do everything to please the top management. They are even willing to violate human rights and perform any tasks for a tick. That is why some khokims demolish the homes of local residents and entrepreneurs’ shops, force teachers, farmers and doctors to clean the streets,” representatives of the people said.

The deputies spoke about the situation in the city of Yangiyul, Rishtan, Altyaryk, Yakkabag and other regions of the country. According to the deputies, local authorities ignore the desire of local residents and do not take into account their interests.

“Despite the fact that the head of state warned officials several times, they continue to work contrary to the laws. It is very difficult to understand why officials ignore the president’s warnings. If the khokims believe that they have unlimited power, this will not lead to anything good,” they said.

It should be recalled that on July 23, a video-conference meeting, chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, was held on the issues of further development of small business and entrepreneurship.

During the event, the lack of a systematic approach to the demolition of buildings and structures of entrepreneurs, as well as compensation payments was criticized. In the process of creative work carried out at places, some buildings and structures fall under demolition. However, due to large-scale demolitions, often without taking into account the prospective development of settlements and the corresponding calculations, there are huge amounts of pending compensation payments.

At the same time, administrations, attracting investors to the construction of enterprises at the site of demolished structures, do not oblige them to pay compensation at their own expense, and these costs are borne by the state.

“I strongly warn all khokims: it is absolutely unacceptable to demolish property belonging to entrepreneurs without justified need,” the head of state said.
