On July 19, Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov, as part of his official visit to the US, met with the Administrator of the US Agency for International Development (USAID) Mark Green, the MFA press service reports.
During the talks, a substantive conversation on promising areas for the implementation of joint projects took place, and also, priorities of fruitful cooperation with the Agency in the context of growing multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and the USA were discussed.
“Mark Green reaffirmed the Agency’s readiness to cooperate with Uzbekistan and support comprehensive reforms implemented under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev,” the Foreign Ministry said.
Particular attention was paid to the prospects for the establishment and development of trade-economic and investment-technological relations between the countries. It was emphasized that investment in education will give the greatest return.
“By investing in the field of education, you sow the seeds of the future, because you can hardly withstand the increasingly tough competition all over the world without a decent education,” the USAID Administrator said.
The Agency head received detailed information on the key provisions of the 5-year development strategy of Uzbekistan, results of the delegation’s negotiations in a number of United States government structures.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on a dynamic increase of contacts between Uzbekistan and USAID headquarters in Washington at various levels.
