Today, June 21, Shavkat Mirziyoyev during the 20th plenary session of the Senate expressed his opinion on the activities of senators, Kun.uz correspondent reports.
“Sit for half an hour every day and think about who you are. Take your tie off, set aside the badge and visit the regions. At least once a month, make one district an exemplary. There are a lot of areas where you need to work on. Let the parliament change the situation.
I am not happy that you are only applauding and voting. In the early years of independence, there were heated discussions at parliament meetings, now it is silent. Give us suggestions. We must meet at least once a month and check the implementation of legal acts. The Senate should not only support reforms, but also monitor the implementation,” the head of state said.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev also urged senators to think about local budgets.
“The Senate does not work with the Ministry of Finance. Local budgets have problems. For example, development of the Tashkent region needs 1.5 billion soums. This is only one region. Are there any companies that can give such money? Where will I get this amount from? Let the parliament also think about where to get the funds. The executive body must respect the Senate. Call ministers and ask them about the problems,” he said.
