Everyone who sells online advertising should pay taxes. This was reported during the briefing “Clarification of the essence and content of tax reform within the framework of VAT implementation and other innovations”, which took place on June 12 at the Agency for Information and Mass Communications.
According to a representative of the State Tax Committee Muzaffar-Yunus Nazarov, any activity aimed at generating income is considered as an enterprise. This concerns, for example, owners of Telegram channels that sell advertising.
Also, this way of making money is illegal for bloggers, who sell ads on their personal pages on Instagram, Facebook or other social networks.
“Indeed, there is no concept of blogging in the legislation – this is not an activity, there is no description in the legislation. But if bloggers take money for the services provided, this is considered to be an income from the provision of services. Even if the legislation does not have the concept of blogging, it has the concept of providing services,” the representative of the committee said.
Bloggers, who receive income through advertising on social networks, must be registered as an individual entrepreneur.
If a citizen earns income by placing advertisements on social networks and does not pay taxes, then the tools for obtaining these revenues (phone, laptop, tablet and computer) can be confiscated. They can be returned within 30 days if the citizen is registered as an entrepreneur.
During the briefing, it was also reported that the new Tax Code will prescribe the procedure for taxation in e-commerce. In the coming days, the project will be submitted for public discussion.
