Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Belgium Dilyor Khakimov held talks with President of the MasterCard division on Emerging Markets and Europe George Simon and Manager for Georgia and Central Asia Igor Stepanov.

Representatives of the company stressed their readiness to quickly deploy MasterCard cards in the Humo national payment infrastructure being created in Uzbekistan these days.

During the negotiations, the parties agreed on a number of steps to expand the possibilities of using MasterCard. In particular, the MasterCard payment system will be available through smart PIN-pads, mobile terminals and fixed terminals. In order to achieve rapid adaptation, the company will assist through programs to improve the financial literacy of the population of Uzbekistan.

Another important point of discussion was the question of interaction of our country with MasterCard for the speedy implementation of a set of joint activities for emerging national Humo payment cards for international payments.

The National Interbank Processing Center (NIPC) and Mastercard signed a memorandum of intent this year, which envisages support for using HUMO payment cards in the international Mastercard network with the release of HUMO International cards. This gives the opportunity to use the Uzbek card in more than 70 million outlets worldwide.
